Trunk Shock - E34 5 Series Sedan (1989-1995) - 51248110327

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 51248110327 (51-24-8-110-327) and is described as Trunk Shock for the 1989-1995 BMW 5-series sedan (which is the E34 chassis). 

If the trunk lid on your BMW 5 series (E34) isn't staying up on its own or slams shut way too forcefully, then you probably need one (or two) of these gas-pressurized trunk struts, commonly called "trunk shocks."  

These are sold individually (so we recommend buying two if you are doing the job right) and they install in place of the old/failed original E34 trunk shocks. Once installed, your trunk will be much better balanced: Able to stay open on its own, and closing normally with the need to "catch" it from slamming too hard. 

This hood shock is made by an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for BMW, so you know you are getting a well built and precise piece, pressurized for your specific BMW 5 series trunk fitment. 

Please note, if you have a heavy aftermarket rear wing or spoiler, that can affect the balance of the trunk. You can still use this hood shock, but the added weight of a rear wing may make it close slightly harder than intended. This trunk shock is balanced for an E34 trunk without a spoiler.
