This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 51243414711 and is described as Trunk Shock for M-Sport model BMW X3, 2004-2010 (E83 chassis) which includes the X3 2.5i and X3 3.0 for the model years 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010.

The M Sport Package on the first generation X3 added a rear spoiler on the trunk hatch. This changes the weight of the trunk, which BMW accounted for in the calibration of the trunk shocks. This was a more popular option on the later (2007-2010) models, though the earlier years could have the spoiler added by the dealer. If your X3 has the M Sport aero package, or the M Sport style rear spoiler, you'll want these trunk shocks to make sure your hatch opens and closes as design by BMW.
