CSF E46 M3 Oil Cooler Package

Whether you are doing preventative maintenance or looking for a cooling upgrade this package delivers. It's not that the factory S54 oil cooler is a poor performer for regular street use (in cooler climates). But there's always more room for improvement and better cooling is always wanted for hot climates or any track use.

The CSF E46 M3 oil cooler is a direct replacement upgrade with better cooling surface area and slightly more capacity than stock*. Use with the factory oil cooler lines for a drop-in upgrade with more headroom to resist heat soak. It's an easy upgrade that can be installed easily. New line o-rings for the cooler end are included.

We feel that the Red Line 15W50 oil is better than the original 10W60 for a number of reasons. The 15W has a colder pour point and a thinner viscosity (cSt @ 40C) than the BMW oil. The 15W will reach optimal temperature faster and penetrate and coat bearing surfaces easier. At the other end of the spectrum, the Red Line 50 weight is thinner but has higher ZDDP and better shear strength to protect engine surfaces than the BMW 60 weight. Thinner may actually be a benefit here - less friction/less heat and requires less energy. The BMW oil is not bad oil at all, but we feel the Red Line is simply better and its what we use in our street M3s. Always let the engine and oil warm up before using heavy throttle!

* the six quarts included with this is still a little more than the 5.5 liter capacity of the S54 system. We advise adding one more quart to your order for topping up and setting the correct level. However, do not overfill with another quart!
