VANOS Solenoid Switch - E36, E39, Z3, MZ3 (M50/S50 & M52/S52)

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 11361738494 (11 36 1 738 494) and is described as VANOS Solenoid Switch for M50, M52, S50, and S52 engines. This 24 valve 6 cylinder engine was a single-vanos design and used in many BMW models of the 1993 to 1998/1999/2000ish era. 

This switch is a critical component of the variable valve timing system on these engines. Unfortunately with age and mileage the switch does tend to eventually fail, leaving your engine with fault codes, check engine light, and down on power (limp mode). If your solenoid switch has failed, a new replacement is the solution. 

You can find this solenoid switch in the E36 M3 (1995-1999), 325i/325is (1993-1995), 325ic (1994-1995), 328i (1996-1998), 328is/328ic (1996-1999), E34 525i (1991-1995), E39 528i (1997-1998), Z3 2.8 (1997-1998), and MZ3 / Z3 M (1998-2000). 

This is an original BMW replacement part, authentic in every way. Originally BMW had two different part numbers -- one for the early 1993-1995 engines (M50/S50), part number 11361703720 (11 36 1 703 720) and one for the later 1996 on engines (part number 11361738494 / 11 36 1 738 494). The function of the switches was identical and BMW eventually combined both numbers into one, with this being the latest/newest design.
