Belt Tensioner Update Kit, INA - E36, E46, E39, Z3, Z4, M50, M54, S52

The original belt design on the M50/M52/M52TU/M54/S50/S52/S54 engines used a mechanical tensioner with an internal spring. This worked well at first but BMW engineers, and owners, came to realize that it was the cause of squeaks and belt squealing, especially when cold. The fix was to convert the mechanical style to a hydraulic type. This kit comes with all of the parts needed to convert/update the mechanical to the hydraulic tensioner type.

This tensioner is manufactured by INA, the original supplier to BMW for this part and other engine components. Since it is an OEM part, it conforms to the original design that BMW specified for the engines listed above. It comes with a two year warranty.

Don't forget to pick up a new belt and the other roller pulley at the same time!
