The M20 6 cylinder was used starting in the late 70s and into the early 90s. This timing belt tensioner is specially for these M20 powered BMWs, which spanned many years and models. It first appeared on the European marker E21 323i (1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983), and then (much more commonly) on the E30 3 Series "325" models. This includes the 325e, 325es, 325i, 325is, 325ix Coupe/Sedan (1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1990, 1991), as well as the E30 325i Convertible (1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993). The M20 which used this belt tensioner was also used on some 5 Series, including the E28 528e (1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988), and E34 525i (1989, 1990 model years only).
