Genuine BMW Positive Battery Cable - E9x, E82, E84

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 61129217031 (61-12-9-217-031) and is described as Genuine BMW Positive Battery Cable for E9x 3 Series (including 2006-2011 3 series sedan, and 2007-2013 3 series coupe/convertible), E82 1 Series, and first generation E84 X1 models. 

Modern BMWs have what's known as a "fusable link" in the main positive battery cable as part of it's safety battery cable system. In the event of an accident or an airbag deployment, the positive cable to the battery "pops", cancelling all power from the battery to help decrease the chance of spark or fire in an accident. This means if the fuseable link has been activated (blown), you must replace this battery cable to restore power to the vehicle. In some cases this fused cable may even fail, and set itself off randomly, leaving your car completely without power. This is the factory Genuine BMW repair kit part to replace the blown cable and reset the system.
