  • Ate Typ 200 Performance Brake Fluid is a popular choice for many driving and track enthusiasts because of its wet and dry boiling points being higher than stock brake fluid. Ate is the OE supplier to BMW for most of the brake systems and components on your car. This is just like an OEM brake fluid but better. Ate Type 200 has boiling points that exceed DOT5 specs, making this one of the best brake fluids around for street and track use. As with any brake fluid, its quality is only as good as its freshness. That's why it's important to change your brake fluid often, especially with regular track use.

Normal or Low Viscosity? For dedicated track or race cars a Normal Viscosity fluid is suitable even if the factory fluid was a Low Viscosity (emphasis on "dedicated"). At track temperatures all types of brake fluid thins out and the viscosity becomes closely comparable. A NV fluid will always be slightly thicker than LV but the viscosity is close enough that you won't likely notice a difference at track temps. For mixed street-track or full road use you should use whichever fluid came from the factory. At cooler temps the viscosity difference between Normal and Low is very large. To maintain proper ABS and DSC operation you must use the appropriate fluid. Cars with DSC use the Low Viscosity; cars without DSC (or with ASC+T) use Normal Viscosity. You have DSC if you have the "DSC" button on your dash or center console.

Note - Ate Super Blue Racing Brake Fluid is no longer available. The blue fluid did not comply with US DOT Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard for brake fluid color. The federal standard requires motor vehicle brake fluid to be colorless or amber in color. Typ 200 has all of the same properties and performance as Super Blue but in the correct amber color.
