Our P2 power upgrade for the N54 is via a software reflash of the engine computer with Epic Motorsports tuning. By modifying the software code we get more power and torque and more precise tuning than any piggyback tuning module can. This kit is perfect for the 335i owner that wants the most refined power upgrade with minimal installation hassle. And it's a great first step into more advanced tuning down the road.
The original factory software in your BMW has been engineered for emissions compliance and mass market appeal, leaving performance out of the equation. The N54 engine in the E82 135i, E90/E92/E93 335i, and E60 535i makes plenty of stock power and BMW left the serious tuning for the 1M and 335is models, proving there is more power left on the table for us to exploit.
Our Epic software is tuned for a stock N54 engine with colder spark plugs (included), although intercooler and charge pipe upgrades are very strongly advised. This software on our Project 335i made huge gains -
almost 100ft-lbs at just 3,000 RPM. And we loved how smooth the engine is on the street and track. Power delivery is substantially more but it's smooth and refined. Notice on the dyno how we were able to tune out a big dip at 5,250 RPM and the torque does not drop away as much after 5,500 RPM. The engine and throttle work better together with quicker throttle response.
Colder spark plugs are included that reduce the potential for pre-detonation caused by hotter combustion chamber temps. The stock plugs can run "too hot" and lead to fuel pre-combusting (engine knock or pinging) which causes the ECU to reduce timing and boost. This NGK plug is one step colder to give more reliable power.
Our software is installed via the Engine Calibration Interface (ECI) and your Windows laptop (compatible with XP, Win7, Win8, and Win10).
The ECI cable is included at this price. Read and email your stock file and a tuned file will be returned to you. This is better than off-the-shelf tunes that never look at your original software.
