Precision drilled oil pump nut to attach safety wire for preventing costly loss of oil pressure
Our Drilled Oil Pump Nut for M50, M52, M52TU, M54, S50US, and S52 engines is a strongly-recommend replacement for the factory nut that is well-known for backing off and allowing the oil pump sprocket to fall off. This leaves you with no functioning oil pump and no oil pressure! If you're doing any work with the oil pan off (rod bearings, oil pan baffle, oil pan gasket, etc) that is the perfect time for this precautionary upgrade.
This nut is pre-drilled for safety wire, and it's the perfect solution for preventing this future problem. Wrap the safety wire around the spokes of the oil pump sprocket. The wire method is preferred over welding the nut so you can continue to do maintenance on the system. This is very cheap insurance that can save your engine - a must if you track your car.
Fits all E36 6-cyl, E46/Z4 non-M, E34 525i M50, E39 6-cyl, Z3 6-cyl, MZ3 S52.
Includes safety wire to complete installation. Oil pan gasket sold separately.
Torque reinstalled drilled/safety wired nut to 17 ft-lb. Remember that the nut is reverse thread.
