The simplistic design of the BW Race Shifter is its greatest asset. In racing, it's the smallest details that end up causing big problems. After trying other race shifters on the market that added complication, we set about designing our own simple but immensely effective shifter. The CNC-machined aluminum base is bolted to your factory transmission tunnel (drilling required). We use a high-quality over-sized monoball bearing for smooth and consistent action, and a solid stainless steel shift lever. Our shifter is designed for the stock selector rod only (not an aftermarket double-shear version). Solid engine and transmission mounts are very strongly recommended (BimmerWorld, Rogue, or similar).

Our Race Shifter eliminates almost all of the stock BMW shift linkage: - aluminum shifter carrier - rear rubber mount - front carrier bushings (no more "bitch clip"!!!) - Nylon cup bushing - and all other plastic, urethane, Nylon, and rubber has been removed from the shift linkage.
The only link between the shifter and the transmission is the factory selector rod. Why add more complication and potential failure points to your shifting? Our design has no complicated springs or set up involved and no chance of the shifter falling out of alignment like some other high-priced and overly complicated race shifters.
The BW Race Shifter is designed to accept a stock BMW "snap-in" shift knob and your stock boot will slip over the lever. Due to the taller height, some portion of the lever will be exposed (which is a good thing in our opinion!). The shift lever height is adjustable over a range of 3/4" so you can fine-tune the ergonomics.
