Driveshaft Flex Disc (Guibo), Meyle HD - E9X 325xi/328xi/330xi, F10 528i N52, E84 X1 28i N52

This Flex Disc (or "Guibo"), BMW part #26117527392 (26 11 7 527 392), connects the driveshaft to the transmission and provides a buffer to absorb driveline vibrations. The rubber flex disc takes the torque coming out of the transmission and delivers a seamless transition to the driveshaft. But over time the rubber is subjected to constant loading/unloading and it will break down. The rubber is designed to be the weakest link so that the rest of the driveline lasts longer.

We recommend inspecting this coupling whenever the car is getting service. If there are many visible cracks in the rubber it's likely your Guibo will fail soon. You may also experience noises, clunks or thunks when the guibo is on the verge of failure. To avoid catastrophe, further damage and ultimately a break down, we suggest replacing your guibo as preventative maintenance. Bolts can be re-used but new nuts are recommended.
