As impressively capable the G8X is, it's obviously a street car. And that's clear when looking at the rear brakes, which are conventional 1-piston sliding calipers. And there's nothing wrong with these simple calipers when used on the street where so much of the braking is handled by the front calipers. But out on the track the value of proper rear brakes becomes more vital. We want slightly more bias in the rear to off-load more of the braking duty to the rear tires. This is why a rear BBK on the G8X is vital.

This package is a partnership between BimmerWorld and Alcon. We worked together to build a braking system using Alcon's unparalleled racing pedigree combined with our "zero compromise" approach to racing hardware. We have run Alcon hardware on our own G8X, F8X, and E9X M3 track and race cars. This is a true racing brake kit with premium and race-focused components not found on mass-market big brake kits.

Rotors are cast and machined in the US from a proprietary iron with high carbon and copper content that has exceptional thermal stability and high strength from low weight. These rotors come pre-bedded with pad material for improved life and time or performance is not lost with a bedding-in session. Rotors are two-piece with turbulator vanes and a floating hat assembly with anti-rattle clips (optional use). The turbulator design pumps air through the disc much more efficiently than straight or curved vanes. The rotors have a curved slot pattern.

Calipers are a 4-piston CAR23-based design and forged from aerospace-grade billet aluminum in the UK. Forged calipers are extremely stiff, and this design is all one-piece, which translates into greater confidence in braking and optimum performance. Pad knock-back springs are included. The stainless pistons do not use dust seals so these brakes should not be used for street use*.

The Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) must be removed. Currently, there is no provision for retaining the EPB caliper. The EPB module can be unplugged and removed and we recommend custom vehicle coding to de-activate it entirely.

This kit does not include pads as standard equipment. A wide variety of pads are available. The caliper uses a common shape up to a 25mm thickness. Pad part numbers are Alcon 4441, PFC 7700, Pagid 1674 (also 1607, 8267, 8037), Ferodo FRP1078, and Hawk HB105. The pad is also shared with F82 M4 GT4 as well as other GT3, GT4, and many other motorsport models.

* - To get the specs we wanted, dust seals have been deleted from the caliper design. We strongly advise against using these brakes for regular street use.
