Alcon 390mm 6-piston Racing Brake Kit for G87 M2, G80 M3, G82 M4 features -
390x36mm slotted rotors (pre-bedded)
6-piston GT3 forged single-piece calipers (same design as used on Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini GT3 race cars)
Accepts 30mm pad thickness - massive thickness for fewer pad changes
Piston sizes optimized to use with stock rear brakes
Forged caliper brackets optimized for wheel clearance
Stainless brake lines
Fits under 18" wheels*
The stock iron brakes on the G8X have impressive specs but they are a product designed for street use. The rotors are big but also very heavy. The calipers are massive, very heavy, and with dust boots and seals that are not intended for track temps. The pad thickness is limited to 19mm, meaning more frequent pad changes. The size and position of the caliper is also a challenge for wheel clearance. They work very well on the street but any serious G8X track car will want to shed some weight and have a thicker pad for more life.
This package is a partnership between BimmerWorld and Alcon. We worked together to build a braking system using Alcon's unparalleled racing pedigree combined with our "zero compromise" approach to racing hardware. This caliper design and pad shape are used throughout the world on top GT3 cars, including the M4 GT3 and we have run Alcon hardware on our own G8X, F8X, and E9X M3 track and race cars. This is a true racing brake kit with premium and race-focused components not found on mass-market big brake kits.
Rotors are cast and machined in the US from a proprietary iron with high carbon and copper content that has exceptional thermal stability and high strength from low weight. These rotors come pre-bedded with pad material for improved life and time or performance is not lost with a bedding-in session. Rotors are two-piece with turbulator vanes and a floating hat assembly with anti-rattle clips (optional use). The turbulator design pumps air through the disc much more efficiently than straight or curved vanes. The rotors have a curved slot pattern.
Calipers are a 6-piston CAR9549 GT3 caliper, forged from aerospace-grade billet aluminum in the UK. Dry weight is only 6.4lbs! Forged calipers are extremely stiff, and this GT3 design is all one-piece, which translates into greater confidence in braking and optimum performance. The front piston sizes are sized to use with the stock rear brakes. Bias is shifted slightly to the rear. A matching rear Alcon kit is also available (lighter, more track focused). Pad knock-back springs are included. The stainless pistons do not use dust seals so these brakes should not be used for regular street driving**.
This kit does not include pads as standard equipment. A wide variety of pads are available. The caliper uses a common shape up to a 30mm thickness. Pad part numbers are Alcon 4495 (B64), PFC 7799, Pagid 8100, and Ferodo FRP3153.
* - The 390mm disc & caliper are at the very outer margin of clearance for most 18" wheels. The shape and design of the barrel will dictate clearance. A barrel that has an aggressive deep drop-center will have clearance issues. Caliper > spoke clearance is generally very good thanks to the low outside profile of this caliper.
** - To get the specs we wanted, dust seals have been deleted from the caliper design. We strongly advise against using these brakes for regular street use.
Angled Bleeder Wrench Available. This tool allows for easy access to the bleeder screw on G8X rear Alcon calipers. Please see below for BimmerWorld recommended related items.
