Charge Air Cooler Aluminum Expansion Tank - F8X M3/M4

The BimmerWorld View: We went through several of the stock plastic tanks on our own BimmerWorld M4 GTMore project. They all failed at the seam where the plastic is welded together. When it lets go your IATs will spike and you're gonna be in limp mode or possibly down for the rest of your weekend. This simple drop-in replacement tank solves that and is made to last where the plastic clearly isn't.

This high-performance aluminum expansion tank and pressure-relief cap replace the original plastic coolant reservoir assembly used for the liquid-to-air intercooler system on F80 M3 (2015-2018), and F82/F83 M4 (2015-2020). 

Every 2015 through 2020 model M3 and M4 needs this tank! There are no dash alerts or downsides using this upgraded tank. Just peace of mind. 

The factory reservoir is a known failure point, and a common source for coolant leaks. After years of heat-cycling, the plastic tank can crack at the seams. Since there is no level sensor in the tank, there is no warning that the coolant is low. Once the coolant is gone, the intake air temperature will rise, causing your car to go into limp mode. This upgraded metal version completely eliminates the possibility of failure, making your F8X M3 or M4 more reliable. 

General Note: Slight modification to the mounting tab may be required when installing onto an aftermarket charge-air cooler. The mounting tab tab has a corner that may need to be ground down in order to achieve proper alignment with the mounting holes. We have confirmed that this fits directly onto a stock or PWR brand intercooler.

This is a direct replacement for BMW part # 17132284601 (17-13-2-284-601) on F80, F82, and F83.

F87 Note: this tank does fit but requires a small area of the hood's inner structure be cut away for clearance.
