This bulb socket is used on the front turn signal (left or right side, driver or passenger side) which also serves as the parking light / parking lamp. If the bulb holder in your E34 or E36 front parking light / directional lamps has corroded, degraded, or fallen apart and caused a bulb failure, it will trigger a bulb check fault and leave your turn signal blinking super fast (double the speed, normally). Replacement is the only option, but fortunately it is a fast, quick and affordable fix.
