This water pump uses the original composite impeller. There are pros and cons of composite and metal impellers. In our view the composite is slightly better because it's lighter, being more efficient and causing less strain on the bearings. The water pump is a crucial part of your N62 engine's cooling system and shouldn't be ignored during routine cooling system maintenance. Like any vehicle, the water pump is a wear and tear item. Check for play in the water pump shaft which indicates the bearings are worn.
