This Xenon headlight ignitor is for: 
2002-2005 E46 4-door sedan/wagon (LCI) including 325i, 325xi, 330i, 330xi
2002-2003 E46 2-door coupe/convertible (non-LCI) including 325Ci, 330Ci
2002-2006 E46 M3 Coupe & Convertible

If your Xenon headlight has failed and your bulb is new/replaced, you may have suffered a failure of the headlight ignition unit, which ignites the HID/Xenon bulb and allows it to illuminate. These are a pretty common failure item on the E46 3 series with Xenon lights. This igniter module can be used on either side of the car (driver side or passenger side.) 

BimmerWorld Tip: If you've lost one of your headlights and want to test if this is the culprit, you can try swapping the "good" ignition unit with the suspect ignition unit. If the failed headlight works again, you'll know you need a new igniter for the failed side.
