Rear sealed bearings for the rollover strut on E82, E9X, F8X, and G8X replace the original soft rubber mounts, adding precision and reducing deflection. The factory rear rollover strut is also the mounting point for the rear spring and carries a huge amount of the rear suspension load. The factory rubber bushing setup in this location isn't always up to the task from a performance standpoint.
From the factory these cars have a sealed ball joint on the outer connection but went with a traditional rubber bushing on the inner location. We replace the original rubber bushing with this OEM sealed ball joint. The ball joint allows full and correct movement of the suspension arm but does not deflect or move under load. This keeps the rear suspension alignment in check giving you better feedback and suspension performance. Because there is less movement in the suspension, the tires stay planted where you intended.
The ball joint is installed along with a steel housing in the subframe on E82, E9X, F8X, and G8X models (including 1M, M2, M3, and M4 models). We recommend a small tack weld to secure the housing in place. The ball joint is a centered orientation but we also offer an offset version to correct roll center on lowered cars (see Related Items below). The ball joint is from an OEM supplier, sealed with grease inside, includes an inner Teflon liner, and rubber boots to keep out debris. It's perfect as a OEM-like bearing upgrade with minimal NVH and a long service life!
