Euro Rear License Plate Fill Panel - E30 318i/325i (1988+ Models)

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 51131961241 (51 13 1 961 241) and is described as the rear fill panel for 1988-1992 E30 318i and 325i models. This is a cover for the rear tail panel sheet metal and fills in the blank space between the taillights. It's sized for a European license plate. Online, may E30 owners know this piece by the German description, “heckblende”, which translates simply to “rear panel.” 

The factory method for mounting the Euro rear filler plate used two screws and thick double-sided tape. The US rear sheet metal does not have the mounting holes for this filler plate. You have two options: drill new holes and use the Euro mounting method (see Related Items below) or re-use your US license plate screws and mounting grommets already in place. If using the US hardware you only need to drill two (or four) holes in the plastic Euro filler panel for your US plate. The US license plate does fully cover the Euro mounting holes (no need to fill or cover them). Once holes are drilled and the US plate fitted you will have a OEM look!
