If you have a non-M 3 series with the standard front bumper and don't need to use a front license plate in the standard front-and-center position (front plate delete), this Genuine BMW front center impact strip is a perfect replacement of your current front license plate trim. 

Delete that front license plate and trim on your E36! Especially if you are in a state that doesn't require it, or if you choose to mount your license plate in a different location. This is a factory part for doing just that. It also serves as the front / center / middle impact strip, also commonly referred to as a "rub strip" or moulding.
