This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 51218151559 (51 21 8 151 559) and is described as the small metal pin used to secure the door latch to the door sheetmetal on E36 and Z3 models. These little pins can easily go missing when repairing or replacing the E36 door handle. The securing clip on the inside is sold separately (BMW part #07129934911).
