This is a Left Side front kidney grille (Driver's side on US / Left Hand Drive models) for the 1999, 2000, and 2001 model 3 series sedan and wagon. These are the "pre-facelift" models, or pre-LCI as they are often known. This particular variant of the hood mounted front grille features a Chrome outer bezel and black plastic slats.

This grille is made by an aftermarket supplier. While not at the quality (or price point) of a Genuine BMW E46 front grille, this one will serve its purpose at a much lower price point. Aftermarket parts are a great option when the prices of original BMW replacements are just too high, or in many cases simply not available when needed.
