OEM Stabilus Trunk Shock - E38 7-Series (1995-2001)

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 51248171480 (51-24-8-171-480) and is described as Stabilus OEM Trunk Shock (Gas-Pressurized Spring) for E38 740i, 740iL, 750iL (1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001).

If your E38's trunk is hard to lift and open, SLAMS down with way too much force, or simply refuses to stay UP when you open it, it's time for new trunk shocks. This replacement trunk shock is the same part you'd find at the dealer, but for much less cost and no trip to the dealership. It's gas-pressurized and calibrated for the proper amount of resistance to fix your E38 trunk and make it open and close like it was when new. 

E38 trunk shocks are sold individually, so be sure to buy two if you are replacing both. We recommend replacing both to do the job right.
