Rear Trunk Hatch Shock (Electric Spindle Drive), Right - F26 X4

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 51247339432 (51 24 7 339 432) and is described as a rear trunk spindle drive that raises and lowers the automatic trunklid on F26 X4 models with the automatic trunk opening option (Option Code S316A). There's a number of reasons for BMW trunk malfunctions and the spindle drive is one of the top causes for a open or close failure.

The rear trunk strut includes the main spindle drive gear mechanism that lifts and lowers the trunklid as well as supports it when open. If your BMW trunk no longer opens or closes, moves slowly, or makes grinding or other odd noises, the spindle drive could be one culprit.

This is for the Right side (passenger's side) on BMW X4, The left side uses a spring (see Related Items below). Installation is simple as it uses the familiar ball stud used with any other BMW hood or trunk strut. For replacement, the trunk must be in the fully open position. No programming or electronic syncing should be required - it should be near full extension to install and the closed setting is determined by a microswitch on the body.

This is an OEM trunk strut manufactured by an original supplier to BMW for this part, as well as many other components and systems. As the OEM it meets all of BMW's original design, fitment, and performance requirements and is TUV approved.
