This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 41338225981 (41 33 8 225 981) and is described as E36 Nose Panel for all 1997, 1998, and 1999 model year E36 series. 

This panel is the original BMW direct replacement for any 1997, 1998 or 1999 E36 3 series. It's also an upgrade for any 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, or 1996 model E36 series, which had different shaped grill openings. 

Are you looking to convert your pre-1997 E36 to the facelift style nose and grills? If so, you can use this nose panel on early E36 models (1992-1996) to convert the front end to the freshened "LCI" faceflift version. (If you are converting to the 1997+ style, be sure to pick up a pair of front grills for the 1997-1999 models to complete your front end conversion.)
