This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 11667519457 (11 66 7 519 457), and is described as Engine Vacuum Pump for “early” N52 engine on E85 Z4 3.0si (2006-2008), E90/E91 325i/325xi/330i/330xi (2006), and E60 525i/525xi (2006-2007). 

The N52 uses a vacuum pump to generate vacuum for the brake booster and other things like the exhaust flap. A lack of brake pressure or higher braking effort may intake a failure of the vacuum pump. It's located on the engine block under the intake manifold and next to the alternator.

This is an N52 vacuum pump manufactured by Pierburg - an original supplier to BMW for this part, as well as many other engine components. As the OEM it meets all of BMW's original design, fitment, and performance requirements and is TUV approved.
