Test Pipes on the E90/E92 M3 make big power by deleting the primary cats. But they leave a second set of catalytic converters in place that restrict power and are a potential failure point that can choke your exhaust. This packaged system is our BimmerWorld Race Center Section, to delete all four cats, combined with Epic Race software for a enormous power and torque upgrade.
When building a race or track car (not legal for road use) cats should not be left in the system. When cats overheat the inside honeycomb material can break down and clog the exhaust. This is made worse by Race software tunes that run more fuel or disable secondary air pumps. Our Race Center Section is a complete center from the headers to the mufflers and does not include any catalytic converters. Choose a straight pipe system or with a pair of resonators (for some decibel reduction). Our exhaust is Made in the USA by MagnaFlow with 304 stainless steel. This system is far superior than kits that only include Test Pipes and require the stock exhaust to be cut up. We save weight, make more power, and have an easier install.
This system was tuned on the BimmerWorld dyno by Epic Motorsport - the leading S65 tuner in the US. Final software development was carried out on multiple BimmerWorld and customer racecars running around the US. The fuel and timing maps are better optimized for premium fuel and additional coding has been done to ensure the check engine light and fault codes do not appear with the cat-delete (and to ensure compliance with race series regulations). This software works best with 93 octane but can be used with 91 with slightly less power gain. Further refinements are made to the throttle maps for smoother and faster throttle opening, the top speed limiter is raised/eliminated, and the rev limit is raised to 8,600.
Epic software exceeds other tunes that are based on the factory 240E version. Epic reverse-engineered the stock software to go beyond the 240E update. There is no need, or benefit, to having the 240E update pre-installed before the Epic tune. This saves time and greatly simplifies the install process. The tuned file you receive back from Epic will already include the enhancements.
Software is installed with the included Epic Motorsports Electronic Calibration Interface (ECI) connected to the OBD port in your dash and a Windows laptop. There is nothing to modify or remove and you never have to worry about modifications to the wiring harness. The ECI tool will read and save a copy of your stock software, which is then e-mailed to us for modification. A new tuned version of your original file is returned to you. This is better than off-the-shelf software tunes that never look at your original software. You can continue to drive the car while your tuned file is being processed.
