Intercooler Expansion Tank, Rein - F10 550i, F13 650i, F02 750i, X5/X6 50i

OEM replacement intercooler expansion tank used on all F10 550i, F06/F12/F13 650i, F01/F02 750i, E70 X5 50i, and E71 X6 50i models. This tank supplies the charge air cooling system with coolant and circulates through its own radiator in addition to the intercoolers. Side note: the intercooler expansion tank does not have its own level sensor so the fluid level must be manually checked.

The expansion tanks on F10/F13/F02 models is made of plastic and susceptible to heat and chemicals in the engine bay. These plastics are known to become brittle and fragile with age, mileage, and thousands of heat cycles (cold to hot to cold again). Eventually the plastic gets so brittle cracks or holes form, and you'll either get a slow leak or a blow-out that leaves your BMW on the side of the road, overheating. Replace this expansion tank preventatively and you can avoid this type of breakdown.
