Engine Oil Cooler, CSF - F10 M5, F90 M5, F06/F13 M6, G15 M850iX, F92 M8

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 17212284260 (17 21 2 284 260) and is described as a replacement (and upgraded) engine oil cooler for BMW F10 M5, F90 M5, F06/F13 M6, G15 M850iX, and F92 M8. This is the oil cooler for S63TU engines (and the N63 engine in the M850i). This cooler is placed underneath the car and is very susceptible to rocks and other debris which can puncture the cooler and cause a critical oil leak. The CSF cooler is a bar-and-plate design for better durability in that exposed location and handling of heat soak.

This CSF design has a few features that make it an upgrade over a factory replacement cooler -
+ More cooling tubes (14 vs 11)
+ More cooling fin rows (15 vs 12)
+ Thicker core - 60mm vs 45mm
+ TIG-welded manufacturing versus OE brazed (fused)
+ Bar-and-plate design vs OE tube & fin

All CSF radiators receive design and development in the USA with additional wind tunnel, vibration, thermal cycle, burst pressure, and salt spray testing done at their production facilities in Southeast Asia. During manufacturing, radiators are individually tested for leaks and receive a 30-point inspection prior to shipping. This part is a much higher level of quality than typical Chinese factory parts. CSF is an OE supplier to several manufacturers as well as providing private-label products for other radiator brands. CSF radiators have a two year warranty.
