The electric water pump used on the N52 3.0 liter engine (and N51 SULEV version) is highly prone to failure between 60 and 100k miles. When your BMW's electric pump spins it's last time, you'll get a yellow temp warning on your instrument cluster, followed only seconds later by dreaded RED temperature warning. You'll be lucky if you have enough time to even pull over and turn the engine off (Remember, with Push-to-start cars, you can't turn the engine off until you're under 5mph!) By now, your BMW's coolant is already starting to boil and you can expect steam from under your hood. The lucky victims of this failure will be able to shut down their N52/N51 engine before permanent damage is done.

Don't risk your engine! If your BMW has more than 60k miles, you should consider this issue a ticking time bomb. It's only a matter of time before it fails, as they all do. Fortunately the job to change it isn't too crazy and we carry the latest upgraded replacement electric water pump from BMW (as well as a the less expensive OEM supplier, if you want to save some costs.)
