The electric water pump used on the N52 3.0 liter engine in the 2007-2013 X5 3.0si is highly prone to failure between 60 and 100k miles. When this electric pump finally turns it's final time, you'll get a yellow/amber high temperature alert on your dash which will quickly turn to the dreaded RED temperature warning. By this point, your BMW coolant is either about to over boil, or is already steaming out from under your hood. If you're lucky, you're able to shut down the N52 engine before any permanent damage is done. Don't let this happen to your BMW!
