The BimmerWorld View: this kit is for the enthusiast who insists on a OEM+ approach to DCT maintenance and has their own fluid preferences or will buy fluid locally. Fluid is heavy and bulky and can cost a lot to ship so we left it out of this particular package. We also recognize you might have fluid preferences that are different than ours and we respect that. All parts in this kit are OEM, Genuine BMW, or an upgrade (Viton), ensuring the best quality to care for your DCT transmission.

Looking for a filter and fluid service on your 7-speed DCT? This kit is all Genuine or OEM or upgrade components to give your DCT a routine service with the oil pan off. This kit is also perfect if you bought a aftermarket or aluminum oil pan and don't trust the gasket. Included -

+ Viton oil pan gasket
+ oil pan drain plug
+ suction filter
+ oil fill plug*
+ pressure filter (with cap and snap ring)
+ oil cooler line o-rings (common leak source)

The main DCT filter is designed to be serviced and replaced and can usually be done without a lot of hassle. And it's not uncommon to find a leak around the DCT oil pan**. BMW does not sell the pan gasket separately so if you only need a gasket the Viton is both a replacement and an upgrade. See our other kits if you need a new pan. The Viton material has a higher heat resistance and better chemical compatibility than the factory rubber. When re-using the pan, don't forget to clean the inside including inspecting and cleaning the magnet.

Additional Items -

Screws. Replacement hardware is not required per BMW unless you're changing from the early pan (28107842385) to the later one (28108070791). See Related Items below if you want fresh hardware.

Jet Pump. BMW calls for replacing the sucking jet pump inside the oil pan and above the suction filter. We suspect this is because the pan and filter are off and this is a “while you're in there” suggestion. We've never replaced it in any of the DCT service performed in our shop but these cars are getting up there in mileage so now may be the time to do it.

Fluid. Replace the DCT oil with your fluid of choice (ours is Red Line DCTF) but you must follow the factory fill and check procedure using a diagnostic computer! Without the computer you won't be able to monitor transmission temp and top up to the correct level.

*the factory fill plug has a recessed o-ring seal that is not replaceable on its own. The fill plug is quite expensive and wasteful to replace for every service so we came up with a less-expensive alternative. The plug included with this kit has a metric (M18) crush washer that is much cheaper to replace than the whole plug. And we included a couple of replacement crush washers for future service.

**leaks around the DCT oil pan may not be from the pan itself. Here are a few places to check for a DCT oil leak:
- check that the drain plug is more than finger-tight (correct spec is 8Nm, 6ft-lbs)
- check for leaks at the oil cooler line connections (o-rings)
- check the passenger side of the transmission for leaks around the Mechatronics unit cover
- check for a vertical stain or leak down the passenger side of the transmission, which would be coming from the Mechatronics connector on top of the transmission
- check for leak or dampness where the transmission bellhousing meets the engine block (telltale sign of a leaking rear main seal)
