The center support bearing on the E90/E92/E93 M3 supports both sections of the driveshaft and allows it to shift under load. A bearing in the middle is suspended in rubber. Over time, and with a lot of loading/unloading of the S65 driveshaft, the bearing or the rubber wears out.
Symptoms of a bad E9X M3 center support bearing is usually a thunk from the center of the car, especially when dipping in/out of the throttle. A great time to replace the center bearing, and the front flex disc, is during a clutch overhaul, short shift kit install, or any time the driveshaft is removed from the car.
This center bearing was used on both the 6 speed manual transmission and 7 speed DCT model M3 for model years 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 in coupe, sedan and convertible body styles.
