The center support bearing on the E36 and Z3 supports both sections of the driveshaft and allows it to shift under load. A bearing in the middle is suspended in rubber. Over time, and with a lot of loading/unloading of the driveshaft, the bearing or the rubber wears out.
Symptoms of a bad center support bearing is usually a thunk from the center of the car, especially when dipping in/out of the throttle. A great time to replace the center bearing, and the front flex disc, is during a clutch overhaul, short shift kit install, or any time the driveshaft is removed from the car.
This is a high-quality aftermarket center support mount with an OEM INA bearing and comes with a two year warranty.
