Kit contains: 2 x BMW Motorsport rear hub flange (thicker and stronger rear lip design) 2 x BMW Motorsport rear wheel bearings (larger bearings with high performance grease) 8 x bearing mounting screws 2 x outer collar nuts
BMW upgraded the rear hub flange on the M4 GT4 models after cracks developed in the factory production flanges. These new flanges are thicker overall and do not use the tabbed hubcentric lip also found on the production series piece. Unfortunately, we have seen cracks develop on more track-driven M2/M3/M4 cars. While not a panic situation - and not a defect - we think it's a wise idea to a) inspect your rear flanges throughout a season, b) plan on replacing the production flange with this Motorsport part. The updated Motorsport part has a full hubcentric mounting surface for less stress*.
* note that just because this is an updated part from BMW Motorsport and beefier than the original, it's not indestructible and still subject to stress, cracks, and failures.
This kit includes new Motorsport wheel bearings that were also introduced at the same time. The Motorsport bearings use a larger ball bearing with high-performance grease. The Motorsport bearings are not required and we also offer the OEM version (see Kit part #100.33.680.0003). The Motorsport bearings will be our recommendation for heavily tracked or endurance racing cars but anything short of that should be fine with the OEM bearings.
