This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 24101423380 (24 10 1 423 380) and is described as a gasket for the oil pan on the ZF A5S325Z automatic transmission.

This part fits the ZF 5-speed automatic transmission - 5HP19 or A5S325Z. It does not fit models with the GM 5-speed automatic. The ZF transmission has a segmented metal oil pan with 22 screws. You can also confirm visually by the tag on the side of the transmission. We have identified production date splits that may help to guide you:

E46 323i from 3/2000 production
E46 325i/330i up to 3/2003 production
E39 525i/530i from 3/2001 production
