Mechatronic Connector Sealing Sleeve, BMW - E82 128i, E9X 328i, E83 X3 (GM GA6L45R)

This is the electronic plug connector used on GM 6-speed automatic transmissions that is a common source for oil leaks. This transmission is often found in some E82 128i, E9X 328i, E9X 328i xDrive, and 2006-2010 E83 X3 3.0i/3.0si. The seal around the connector goes bad and allows oil to leak out. If you check your automatic transmission housing and see an oil stain around the connector, it needs replacement. If oil is allowed to pool inside the connector it can lead to Mechatronix electronic failure, a much more costly repair.

The connector is best replaced when performing a fluid change when the transmission oil pan is removed anyway.

The GM 6-speed automatic transmission has a silver metal oil pan but the similar ZF 6-speed transmission has a black plastic pan. The GM transmission will have "GM" on the side label. The parts are different so it's vital to know which one you have.
