Shifter Carrier Bracket - E36, E46, E39, Z3, Z4

This stamped metal bracket helps locate the shifter components inside the transmission tunnel, and establishes the point where the transmission's shifter arm assembly can ride on the shifter arm bushing / bearing (not included / sold separately). This steel bracket was originally used on E36 (all, including E46 M3), E46 all (including E46 M3), E38 7 series, E39 5 series, Z3, and the first generation Z4 (E85/E86 chassis). 

Are you converting an E46 M3 SMG to manual transmission? If so, you'll definitely be needing this bracket. An SMG-II to Manual transmission swap on the 2001-2006 M3 requires this bracket either be welded, bolted, or riveted in place, so that the tail end of your shifter assembly has a rear attachment point. 

This panel is also used as a repair piece if your existing bracket has rusted, broken, or become damaged to the point of needing repair / replacement.
