Genuine BMW Lower Rod Bearing, Red, Standard - N20, N26, N52, N54, N55, S55

This is the standard size replacement rod bearing shell with Red color code for many 2006+ BMW engines. Engine manufacturers, including BMW, color-code their bearing parts to match crankshaft and connecting rod sizes. This bearing part number carries the Red code and should only be used to replace other Red bearings unless the crankshaft is machined a smaller bearing is needed (consult with your machine shop).

Important! Read below for specific information for your engine!

Turbo Engines: this is the lower bearing shell in N20, N26, N54, N55, and S55 BMW turbo engines. The shell is the bottom half of the bearing and fits in the connecting rod bearing cap. On these engines it must be paired with the matching Yellow upper bearing shell. The Yellow/Red pairings are known as "R Classification" (a Violet/Blue pairing is "B"). Classifications can be found on the front face of the first crankshaft counterweight. Each engine can have different mixtures of B or R bearings.

Non-Turbo Engines: this is the upper and lower bearing shell in N51 and N52 BMW non-turbo engines. The shell fits both upper and lower pieces of the connecting rod. As far as we know, BMW did not mix bearing colors on the non-turbo engine but you still must check the color code before ordering. The color code can be found on the front face of the first crankshaft counterweight - "bbbbbb" for Blue and "rrrrrr" for Red.

Bearings are also sold by size. This is the standard 50.0mm inside diameter size.

Note: connecting rod bolts cannot be re-used. They are stretch-to-yield and must be replaced.
