Not for cars before the 1999 model year. This oil pump is for the dual vanos models, which started for the 1999 model year. If you have an E39 528i, make sure you only order this if your car is 1999 or 2000 model with the M52tu ("tu" is short for technical update). If you have an M54 powered BMW, as offered in model years 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and (some) 2006 models, then fitment shouldn't be a worry for you.
