Oil Non-Return Valve, BMW - M42, M44, M62TU, S62, S65, S85

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 11111734667 (11 11 1 734 667) and is described as an engine oil Non-Return Valve on many BMW V8 and 4-cylinder engines. This retains oil in the cylinder head rather than draining it all back to the oil pan - crucial for cold starts where oil is not yet circulating. Once oil pressure is present the ball valve will open and allow the oil to flow freely. It can usually be cleaned before needing replacement unless the ball no longer seals. There's a seal for the engine block that is also replaced (see Related Items below).

V8 engines will use 1 on each bank (2 total) and the 4cyl engine typically only has 1. There's a seal for the engine block that is also replaced.
