Oil Filter Housing with Cap Filter and Gaskets - B46 B48 Engine

This is an aftermarket URO Parts replacement B46 engine oil filter housing, which comes complete with the oil filter housing cap, oil filter, as well as the needed gaskets.  

A cracked and leaking oil filter housing is a fairly common problem on F22/F23 230i, 230ix (2017+), F30/F31/F36 330i, 330ix (2017+), F32/F33/F34 430i, 430ix (2017+), G30 530i, 530ix (2017-2019), G01 X3 30i, 30ix (2018-2019), and G02 X4 30i, 30ix (2019). 

Fitment note: 530i, X1/X2, or X3/X4 only up to 2019 model year (not for 2020+).

This part has proven a very problematic item on the B46/B48 4 cylinder engines, leading to many oil leaks on these cars. The plastic housing can suffer cracks which can cause oil to leak either externally or internally. Some believe the rubber used on some of the seals may not have been oil resistant enough, which may cause the rubber gasket/seals inside to be affected by the hot oil, swell and get puffy, and in some cases actually cause the plastic surrounding (and positioning) the gasket to crack. Repeated temperature changes and the nature of plastic parts themselves only contribute to this rash of early failures.  

URO Parts recognized the issues with the original BMW oil filter housing and has created a high-quality replacement to fix the dread B46/B48 oil filter housing failure with a lower cost replacement that is up to the task for a long-term fix.

BMW has been chasing issues with the oil filter housing for some time, and this is a case where a quality aftermarket replacement may be the best choice for an out-of-warranty repair or Do-it-Yourself type fix. BMW usually resolves these types of issues with time and manufacturing improvements, so we expect the later/updated variations of this part to be better from BMW, but if you're looking at lowering repair costs to get your '30i" B46/B48 powered BMW back on the road, this might be a good choice.
