VANOS Oil Pressure Supply Hose, BMW - E60 M5, E63 M6

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 11367838669 (11 36 7 838 669) and is described as an oil pressure hose for the VANOS system of the S85 V10 engine. This hose runs from the high-pressure oil pump to the other pressure hose and then onto the Connecting Line for the VANOS units. The line is made up of a hard metal pipes at the end with flexible metal hose in the middle. Leaks can develop at the fittings between the hard and flexible sections. Not only can oil leak but it reduces the pressure available for the VANOS system and that can lead to very expensive engine damage. A telltale sign of a leaking hose is VANOS system pressure will be low (the pump works at 115 bar).

This line is located inside of the front timing cover and connected to the high-pressure oil pump in the oil pan. The only way to access the pipe and the hose is with the oil pan removed (the front cover can usually remain in place). This line is often replaced at the same time as rod bearings or vice versa. Remember to also replace the o-ring at the top and the crush washers located at either end (4 total).
