Schrick 304° camshaft is the most aggressive in the catalog for the M20 engine in the E30 325i and E34 525i (89-90). It will provide the most power gain in the top end at the expense of low end torque. The 304 degree cam needs to be used with custom pistons as there is too much interference with the stock pistons. This cam works best as part of a complete M20 build with custom pistons, cylinder head work, intake manifold or ITBs, and other intake/fuel upgrades.

Although this can be used with stock springs, the Schrick valve springs are very strongly recommended (part #000202090).

Camshaft tuning is all about optimizing air/fuel flow for your specific needs. The higher degree will open the valves sooner, deeper into the combustion chamber, and for longer time. Choosing the correct camshaft depends on the rest of your engine specs and goals. More aggressive cams should be paired with appropriate air and fuel upgrades to make full use of their operating specs.

All Schrick camshafts are made in Germany using wear-resistant chilled cast iron and machined with advanced CNC equipment. They have a one year warranty.

M20 304 cam specs:
Intake Lobe Duration: 304°
Exhaust Lobe Duration: 304°
Intake Valve Lift: 12.2mm
Exhaust Valve Lift: 12.2mm
Intake Valve Lift @ TDC: 4.0mm
Exhaust Valve Lift @ TDC: 4.0mm
Valve Timing (IO-IC-EO-EC): 47-77 77-47
Intake Valve Clearance: 0.25mm (0.0098")
Exhaust Valve Clearance: 0.25mm (0.0098")

Manufacturer's Notes:
1. While new springs may not be required, you must ensure the new valve lift does not fully compress the spring. It may be necessary to shim the spring's installed height.
2. Valve timing and valve opening durations are shown minus the ramps.
3. Valve timing is shown in °Crankshaft in relation to TDC.
4. All valve lift figures are shown without deduction of valve lash, i.e. the actual valve lift is the stated valve lift minus the valve lash. Hydraulic lifters have no lash so the valve lift is the actual valve lift.
5. Lumpy or rough idle is caused by valve overlap (intake and exhaust valves open at the same time). Some of the lumpy idle can be adjusted out with a proper valve adjustment using the new specs. Some roughness may remain, depending on the aggressiveness of the cam.
