These Schrick sport camshafts for the S85 V10 engine in the E60 M5 and E63 M6 make a dramatic impact on top end performance. The more aggressive profile of these cams allow better flow through the cylinder heads at higher RPM. Where the stock engine starts to lose power over 4,500 RPM these cams shift the power band higher with more power available up top. There is a slight loss in low-end torque but this won't be an issue if you want to feel more thrust over 4,000 RPM! Camshaft tuning is all about where in the RPM range you want the best power. The Sport cams retain more mid-range torque than the more aggressive Race cams. Throttle response is improved as well. These cams work amazingly well with headers.

The Schrick M5/M6 cams are 292° for intake and 280° exhaust with 12.2mm of valve lift for each. This opens the valves deeper and longer to expedite flow. Some heads require very slight machining to clearance the cam lobes (inconsistent tolerances from BMW's foundry). Otherwise, they are a drop-in replacement for the original stock cams.

1. While new springs may not be required, you must ensure the new valve lift does not fully compress the spring. It may be necessary to shim the spring's installed height.
2. Valve timing and valve opening durations are shown minus the ramps.
3. Valve timing is shown in °Crankshaft in relation to TDC.
4. All valve lift figures are shown without deduction of valve lash, i.e. the actual valve lift is the stated valve lift minus the valve lash. Hydraulic lifters have no lash so the valve lift is the actual valve lift.
5. Some heads require very slight machining to clearance the cam lobes (inconsistent tolerances from BMW's foundry).
