This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 11311741236 (11 31 1 741 236) and is described as the Timing Chain Tensioner Rail for the M62 and M62TU engines used in E39 540i, E38 740i, E31 840ci, and E53 X5 4.4i/4.6is. This tensioner rail is on the passenger side of the engine and fits with the actual timing chain tensioner to keep the chain in the proper tension. The guide rail is made of plastic and will wear down with age and use. This is bad for the chain and engine operation in general. Includes new o-ring (BMW part #11421713597).
