This octopus looking (quadopus?) air hose is a vacuum line that runs to each of the four fuel injectors on the later BMW 4 cylinder engines (1996-1999). If you have a late M42 engine (such as a 1994 built after 01/1994, or a 1995 model year) you may also need this special vacuum distribution hose.
