This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 12111312157 (12 11 1 312 157), and is described as the updated Ignition Rotor for E30 M3 and the S14 engine. This is the later-style rotor with a hole where the contact pin from the cap will make contact. Use with the updated distributor cap (BMW part #12111312160).

Ideally you would replace cap and rotor together and buy two compatible parts. However, sometimes it's necessary to replace one without the other. NOTE: The E30 M3 had two styles of distributor cap & rotor combinations. The early style has a spring-loaded center contact pin and the rotor is a flat contact pad on top. The updated style uses a solid contact pin with a recessed "pad" / hole on the top of the rotor. We also sell an older style due to the lower expense, but for dedicated track cars that see constant high-RPM use, we recommend the updated version. These parts must be used in correct pairs, please check your existing part numbers if you are not ordering both parts.

This is a Genuine BMW E30 ignition rotor (manufactured by Bosch) with a two year warranty. Buying a Genuine part will usually be more expensive than an OEM or aftermarket brand but you are assured that it meets BMW's designs for fitment, performance, and longevity. It will also be the very latest design, incorporating any updates or revisions that an aftermarket brand typically will ignore.
