This Inspection I oil change package for the 2006-2013 non-turbo six-cylinder gasoline cars includes high performance Red Line 5W30 synthetic oil and an OEM Mahle oil filter. This kit includes everything you need for an oil change on the E82 128i, E90/E91/E92/E93 325i/328i/330i, E60 525i/528i/530i, X3 and X5 3.0i models, and Z4 3.0i models.

  • 7 quarts of Red Line 5W30 synthetic motor oil
  • 1 OEM Mahle oil filter kit
Red Line oil outperforms the factory oil when it comes to strength under stress. Factory-type oils are engineered for efficiency and include additives to enhance lubrication, reduce emissions, and improve fuel economy. But in the high performance world we live in, these oils break down faster leaving your engine unprotected. Red Line Oil is simply engineered for a more demanding environment while still exceeding BMW LL-01 standards. Red Line oil is a special formula that is perfectly suited for older higher mileage engines. The thicker viscosity leaves a better film on high wear surfaces (such as camshaft lobes and lifters) and helps piston rings seal better against cylinder walls. BMW has recently discontinued its factory 5W30 in favor of 0W20 and 0W30 weights which are absolutely too thin for higher mileage engines with poor sealing. The need for a high performance motor oil is greater than ever.

The Mahle oil filter kit includes the filter, two cap o-rings, and a drain plug crush seal. We insist on OEM or Original BMW filters for our customers. Mahle is an OE supplier to BMW for this and many other filters and components found in your BMW. As an original supplier, Mahle's filter products meet or exceed the requirements from BMW. They are engineered for the correct fit and filtration needs of the N51 and N52 six-cylinder engines. A oil filter housing cap tool is recommended.

If you proactively maintain your car, and take interest in its care and performance, there are several other things to check during a routine oil change (aka Inspection I service):
  • top off and inspect other fluids: power steering, other hydraulic fluids, coolant, brake fluid (replace annually)
  • empty oil catch can (if added)
  • clean or replace engine air filter (replace annually)
  • clean or replace cabin air filter (replace annually)
  • set all tire pressures, including your spare (if equipped)
  • inspect brake pads and rotors
  • inspect serpentine belts for cracking
  • inspect all hoses, including power steering, for leaks or poor fitment
  • inspect intake boots for cracks or leaks
  • Take this opportunity to inspect the general condition of the engine bay and chassis. Staying ahead of problems, even minor ones, will help avoid major issues in the future. As well as help you get the most enjoyment from BMW ownership.
